Recruitment Panels
Mercian welcomes input from its residents when it comes to employing contactors to carry out the services we offer.
Residents Forum members have been involved in the procurement of contractors for some time here at Mercian. Residents have helped recruit cleaning and gardening contractors, which helped give us a customer perspective to ensure we got the services they wanted.
Residents are also involved in the recruitment process for staff too. The process runs alongside our assessment centres for recruitment and forum members are initiated by our HR dept training session on assessment techniques.
Members take part in the full day assessment including interviews and will take part in probationary reviews five months after the appointment is made.
So far we have had active involvement of five Resident Forum members in the recruitment of the following positions -
• Customer Involvement Manager
• Community Regeneration Manager
• Customer Involvement Officer
• Community Development Officer
This is proving an excellent way of providing an opportunity for residents to have a say in the decision making process of the organisation and is also helping to developing residents skills from seeing how the recruitment process works.
