Supporting Witnesses and Victims of Anti-Social Behaviour

Every effort will be made by Mercian to support witnesses and victims of anti-social behaviour. This may include:

  • Making referrals to Victim Support West Midlands.
  • Making referrals to Tenancy Support services (either provided by Mercian or other agencies).
  • Providing accompanied visits to Magistrates or County Courts prior to an appearance by a witness.
  • Facilitating physical safety improvements to a property (either by Mercian or through referral to another agency).
  • Finding alternative accommodation where the witness is not safe to remain in their current home.
  • Providing interpreters for residents that do not speak English as a first language.

Supporting Perpetrators of Anti-Social Behaviour

Mercian recognises that people cause anti-social behaviour for a number of reasons. Mercian will provide support to perpetrators wherever necessary to help them change their behaviour. This may include:

  • Making referrals to Tenancy Support services (either provided by Mercian or other agencies.
  • Making referrals to Family Intervention Projects.
  • Making referrals to Drug and Alcohol Support Agencies.
  • Ensuring that perpetrators with Mental Health difficulties or other disabilities are receiving necessary support from other agencies, such as Social Services or Mental Health Teams.
  • Providing diversionary activities for young people.
