Estate Management
The Housing Department at Mercian has been restructured to provide residents with a better service. We have made a number of changes which include the setting up of new teams and changing our Housing Officers to new roles as 'Neighbourhood Officers'.
We have six Neighbourhood Officers that work in our new Neighbourhood Team. Their role is to spend most of their time on their 'patches' (areas that they manage) meeting, visiting and speaking to our residents. They will deal with tenancy issues, anti-social behaviour, abandoned vehicles, fly tipping, graffiti, grounds maintenance, cleaning and all other issues that relate to the local area. The main change in their role is that they no longer manage rent payments and rent arrears, as this role is now carried out by our new Housing Income Team. You can discuss any housing issue with your Neighbourhood Officer and can arrange for them to come and see you in your home. This is part of our aim to bring our Housing Service closer to you.
The Neighbourhood Team is managed by our Neighbourhood Manager, David Mullard, who manages and co-ordinates the work of the team.
Ann Knight
Ann began working for Mercian in 2001. Previously she managed our properties in North West Birmingham and Sandwell. She now manages properties in areas including Handsworth, Great Barr, Newtown, Smethwick, West Bromwich and Lyng.
Linda Johnson
Linda began working for Mercian in October 1994 and has previously worked in Sales, Income and generic housing management teams. She now manages our homes in North Birmingham including our properties in Erdington, Kingstanding, Sutton Coldfield, Great Barr and Lichfield.
Gem Lawrence
Gem began working for Mercian in December 2006 as a Housing Assistant and became a Neighbourhood Officer in January 2008. She manages our properties in Central and East Birmingham, including homes in Edgbaston, Yardley, Sparkbrook, Shard End, Sheldon, Highgate and Solihull.
Jo Bedworth
Jo previously worked at our Walsall Housing Office and has worked for Mercian since 1992. She now manages our properties in Walsall & Shropshire including Highgate, Darlaston, Willenhall, Bridgnorth & Highley.
Harvinder Kang
Harvinder has worked for Mercian since 2004 and manages our properties in South West Birmingham, which include Longbridge, Rubery, Northfield, Kings Heath & Kings Norton.
Taz Khan
Taz began working for Mercian in 2008 as the Neighbourhood Officer for Coventry & Warwickshire. He manages nearly 600 homes in Coventry (particulary in the areas of Foleshill and Willenhall), Rugby, Nuneaton and Bedworth. Taz has over 3 years experience in housing and has worked for a number of housing associations across the Midlands.
