Nuisance can occur in many ways. For example:
- loud music
- loud televisions
- barking dogs
- unnecessary noise from cars i.e. horns, engines being revved up, music, alarms
- banging from DIY
- arguments i.e. shouting/ screaming
What is anti social behaviour?
Anti social behaviour comes in many different forms. It ranges from serious acts of violence and harassment to more everyday incidents, such as vandalism, graffiti, ball games, verbal abuse. Each tenant has a tenancy agreement which states that they must not cause nuisance or harass their neighbours. In broad terms the clause states that:
"You must not do anything, or allow visitors or people living with you, to do anything which is likely to cause a nuisance to other tenants, residents or members of Mercian staff".
What are the most common types of complaint received by Mercian?
Housing Officers receive many complaints from tenants regarding nuisance. They consist mostly of the following:
- Noise from music
- Children playing football
- Verbal and abusive behaviour
- Dumped rubbish including abandoned cars
