For Residents

Our main role as a social landlord is to ensure that our tenants live in a quality and safe environment and that the services we provide meet their needs and expectations

Estate Management

Grounds Maintenance

In July 2006 we entered into a 5 year partnering agreement with Beth Johnson to carry out all of the grounds maintenance at Mercian schemes.

Throughout 2008/09 our Neighbourhood Team, staff from Beth Johnson and representatives from our Residents Forum held on-site consultation events with residents at 124 of our schemes to find out what you like about the service and any further improvements you would like to see. Over 500 residents either attended these events or gave us their views in writing.

We have used this valuable feedback to create bespoke specifications for each of our housing schemes that will help us to deliver the Grounds Maintenance service that residents want.

Residents have told us that in the present economic climate they cannot currently afford all of the improvements that they have asked for. Despite this we will visiting schemes throughout 2009/10, using the scheme specific specifications produced to measure the quality of the Grounds Maintenance service against your expectations.

We will write to residents to let them know how they can be involved in this and of the progress we are making to improve the environment at our housing schemes.
We also expect to increase our “Cleaner and Greener” days where you can join with staff from Mercian and Beth Johnson in litter picking, tidying and planting the gardens at many of our schemes.

Cleaning

We entered into a 5 year partnering agreement, commencing from July 2006, with Greenscape to carry out all of the communal cleaning, including window cleaning, required for all Mercian schemes.

Again on-site consultation events have been held with our residents at 57 of our housing schemes to receive feedback on their views about the cleaning services and to find out what needs to be done to make it even better. These events have been attended by the Neighbourhood Team, Greenscape and representatives from the Residents Forum.

It has been pleasing to note that most of the 183 residents who attended events or gave us their views in writing believe the service provided to be very good, but where suggestions have been made these have been incorporated into local, scheme-specific specifications.

We hope to be able to share these specifications with residents in Spring 2009 and we look forward to measuring the quality of cleaning and window cleaning against these local expectations throughout the year.

Your feedback is invaluable so if you have any questions, suggestions, ideas or concerns about the cleaning or gardening please contact our Customer Services Team or Neighbourhood Team on 0121 322 7373.
