Debt Advice Service
Mercian have joined forces with the Debt Advice Team at Birmingham City Council to provide a face to face debt advice service to our residents.
The service is free, confidential and easy to access. What kind of things can i get help with?
- Reducing rent arrears
- Reducing Council Tax arrears
- Identifying benefit entitlement and maximise income
- Detailing your income and expenditure in a financial statement
- Applying to charities and trusts for assistance
- Negotiating with all relevant agencies and creditors
- Avoiding homelessness due to rent arrears
- Improving your health by reducingstree
How can i access the service?
If you would like to see the Debt Advisor, call 0121 322 7373 to book appointment. The service is available once a week at Mercian's Aston office, 9.30am to 1.30pm.
National Debtline
Some residents get into increasing debt because of poor money management skills and a lack of understanding of finances. Access to FREE impartial money advice is often difficult but the National Debtline (www.nationaldebtline.co.uk) service offers just that.
We will ensure as many of our customers as possible are aware of the service and we will soon establish a referral arrangement to the National Debtline money advice and counselling service.
