Homebuyers in the Midlands Still Getting the Keys to the Door
Times may be tough but homebuyers in the Midlands are still getting the keys to the door through the help of Birmingham based Mercian Housing Association, the Government appointed key HomeBuy Agent in the West Midlands.
The credit crunch has had a huge impact on first time buyers - the number of new mortgages granted to them in April declined by 36% and the average deposit needed is at a three-year high. With no signs of improvement over the coming months, many people are seeking alternative options to help get them onto the property ladder.
Mercian Housing, as HomeBuy Agent plays a crucial role in delivering the Government’s strategy for low cost home ownership, assessing eligibility of applicants for all HomeBuy schemes. Chanelle Alexander from Acocks Green in Birmingham, bought her first property through New Build HomeBuy.
Chanelle was impressed with the level of service she received from the HomeBuy team and said of the application process, “The level of service I received was very good - my initial enquiry was dealt with professionally and my application was processed and agreed within a week, much quicker than I expected. This reduced the amount of anxiety I may have otherwise felt.”
Margaret Snook, HomeBuy Agency Manager said, “Chanelle is just one of hundreds of young people who come to us for help every year. We have a dedicated team who are extremely knowledgeable about all of the products available. The HomeBuy Agency provides an unbiased, neutral source of information which helps people find the scheme to suit their individual needs”.
Mercian Housing leads the way as a provider of shared ownership options, creating choices for people whose options in the housing market are limited and helping first time buyers get on the property ladder.
