Mercian's Big Cheque for MacMillan Cancer Relief

Six supported housing schemes in Birmingham, Walsall and Lichfield which are part of Erdington based Mercian Housing Association, joined up to take part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ and opened their doors to local communities to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Staff at the schemes have prepared fresh cakes and biscuits stalls with teas and coffees being served. Also, Bric-a-brac, running Tombola stalls, table top sales and various raffles took place to raise money. The Packwood Court scheme in Weoley Castle in Birmingham also offered full English breakfast.

Altogether over 150 people attended the coffee mornings, raising an astonishing amount of £2,335.85!

Sheltered scheme manger from Haven Court in Erdington, Elizabeth Smith, said: "It was fantastic to see so many colleagues at the schemes involved. We are proud that our efforts will help people living with cancer.”
