New Heating Systems Mean Warmer Homes for Mercian Residents
West Midlands based Mercian Housing Association is helping residents to save money and stay warm during the cold snap by installing new central heating systems.
Every winter, vulnerable people in the community struggle to keep their homes warm enough due to rising fuel prices making it near impossible to pay energy bills. There is a direct link between cold weather and an increase in death rates, especially amongst older people and others in at-risk groups.
One solution to this problem is to install new, more energy efficient central heating systems. This winter, Mercian Housing has installed 90 brand new central heating systems into residents homes.
‘A’ rated combination boilers were installed, which will dramatically improve the efficiency - not only will homes be warmer, but fuel bills will be reduced.
Mr Ward, a Mercian resident from Walsall, had his central heating system replaced and was very pleased with the results. He commented, “The gas central heating fitters were very obliging and helpful. I am most impressed with the central heating they installed, it has really improved the warmth of my home and I hope to notice a difference in my next energy bill.”
Jas Sidhu, Head of Property Services at Mercian said, “With rising energy prices further increasing the risk of our residents falling into fuel poverty, we are always looking at more energy efficient solutions to heat the homes of our residents. This year, we will continue to source grade ‘A’ rated systems and also provide other solutions which will have a direct benefit to our residents, such as providing thermostatic radiator valves and also offering energy saving advice”.
Mercian Housing is committed to improving residents homes and providing them with opportunities and information to enhance their social and economic well being, helping develop communities people take pride in.
