Mercian Housing Employees Learn the Easy Way!
Birmingham based Mercian Housing Association organised a lunchtime workshop, open to all employees to mark National Learning at Work Day (Thursday 22nd May). The day is the biggest annual celebration of workplace learning and is showcased by the Campaign for Learning, in conjunction with Adult Learners’ Week (17th to 23rd May 08).
The workshop embraced three main themes; skills for life, work/life balance and environmental issues that affect the workplace. Presented by members of staff from Mercian Housing in fun, bite-size activities they showed colleagues that learning can be fun!
Sue Buller, Learning & Development Co-ordinator at Mercian Housing said, “We invest a large amount of time, resources and money into developing our staff. The workshop was a really positive way of bringing employees together in an informal environment to discuss the way that they approach learning and to help them realise how important it is to achieve a healthy work/life balance. The success of the event has prompted us to plan similar lunch time sessions in the future to further develop our employees.”
Vicky Jones, Marketing Officer at Mercian Housing who attended the event said, “The workshop was an excellent opportunity to meet with colleagues to discuss relevant and interesting issues that affect us all in our day to day lives and share thoughts on how to manage our time more effectively”.
Mercian Housing, in line with its Investors in People promises, is committed to investing in people and will continue to put employee training and development at the top of its agenda.
